For many companies, the success of remote working under such strained conditions has, despite the impact on employee wellbeing, been an unmitigated success.
Many were prepared for productivity and collaboration to suffer greatly as workers operated from home, yet with huge investment in the abilities of technology platforms such as Zoom and Slack, some have even seen an improvement in these areas.
However, there have been major downsides to the current working arrangement. Most notably, a worrying fall in trust. But why?
The initial shock stage of the pandemic is now over. This stage was perhaps actually the harbinger of increased trust within many organisations. Businesses scrambled to prepare for remote working and hoped that employees would continue to work efficiently – discovering that the vast majority did just that.
