Achieving complete inclusion in the workplace is something many leaders struggle with, as many employees have shared that they do not feel like they can be themselves in the workplace.
In fact, data shared by Inpulse found that 25% of employees do not feel like they can be themselves at work and 33% don’t believe their company takes D&I seriously.
This is something that Garry Eccles, Vice President of Cereal Partners at Nestle, believes leaders need to tackle head-on, as he said: “You either care about people or you don’t but you can’t fake it, and in turn, inclusive leadership starts with recognising the value of individuals.”
He pointed out that to achieve this, leaders must “become culturally aware and listen more”, adding that they should also value individuals within the workplace, and if they do not “they won’t overcome the barriers to their inclusion efforts”.
