Over the last seven days, gender equality – or, rather, gender inequality and gendered violence – has driven headlines, vigil, protest and action.

It is ineffably sad that a week that started with International Women’s Day ended with national soul searching on the violence many women face, sparked by the murder of Sarah Everard.
