One of the most essential resources in any business is top talent.
This doesn’t just mean high performers, but also those with the ability to lead, forward plan and not only service the company’s current needs, but also anticipate its future. And, of course, this isn’t simply a case of hiring the right people, although this is an essential ingredient in retaining top talent; it’s also about creating and keeping them.
A prime example is the recent news from Amazon. In early February, Amazon’s Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos caused shockwaves by unexpectedly announcing that, after nearly two decades of helming the multinational e-commerce giant, he plans to step down from his role in Q3 of 2021.

And whilst Bezos’ innovation is possibly one of the most ideal examples of innovative talent propelling a business to success, his departure as CEO doesn’t spell the end of Amazon’s successes. Bezos is set to hand over the reins of the company to the current head of its AmazonAWS computing arm Andy Jassy, who is himself notable for making Amazon’s cloud offering an unmitigated success and industry-leading business.
