Job application 'desert' hits HR skills delivery

Numbers of job applications have apparently hit a nadir – which has serious follow-on implications for how HR delivers the skills that leaders need.

Despite current unemployment rates, the number of people applying for roles in December 2020 was the lowest in five years.

In fact, according to data from Broadbean Technology, there was a 34% drop in the number of people applying for jobs in this month compared to the same period in 2019. It was also almost 50% lower when compared to job applications in 2016.
