When it comes to applying for a role at any company, it is important to consider what those at the top actively look for in a job candidate. Whether this a ‘think-outside-the-box’ mentality, timekeeping, dependability or teamworking capabilities, paying attention to the qualities that a firm most looks out for can hugely influence a candidate’s success in the interview process.

Although chief execs and Board-level leaders may not be actively involved in the hiring process (unless they are recruiting for someone really senior), it is possible that these are qualities hiring managers and interviewers will be on the look-out for in the recruitment process.

Particularly when it comes to applying for roles at tech giants and competitive organisations such as Apple, the need for candidates to pay attention to what the firm wants from prospective talent is more critical if candidates are to be in with the chance of securing a role.

In fact, a recent Fast Company article detailed some of the traits that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook looks for in prospective talent, which includes grit, curiosity and those who ‘think differently’ among other qualities. While the traits sought after at each company may vary, the publication explained that Cook’s insights regarding what Apple wants from new talent will likely help those wanting to join other competitive companies of a similar nature.
