According to the latest research released this week by NTT, companies are changing tack on how they deal with their employees – possibly because of the touted mass-migration of workers away from companies that they feel haven’t dealt with the pandemic in a responsible fashion. The data states that a massive 86.4% of businesses within the UK are now ‘prioritising employee empowerment in their future working strategy’.
Yet whilst this news may seem largely like a positive key shift in the mindset of many corporations, recent data from Wired reveals that another key issue is only now rearing its head; for thousands of workers across the UK, despite the Government’s request that employees stay remote wherever possible, bosses are asking staff to return to the office – something that many feel uncomfortable doing.

And whilst some may feel ‘empowered’ enough to attempt to dispute the issue, news that the UK’s unemployment rate has shot up to 4.5% over the past few months, representing over 1.5million out of work, many feel that they have no choice but to ‘fall in line’ and re-enter the work place, some after many months away.
“Our CEO thrives on office life – it’s very much a part of his personal life,” explains one anonymous worker in the report known as ‘Jasmine’. “He wants everyone back in for personal reasons. And to ensure everyone is working and not slacking off.”
