In March of 2020, research from NordVPN discovered that as a result of the pandemic, businesses being stretched extremely thin, furlough and the blurring of lines between work and home life due to remote working, the average employee is now working a grand total of two hours more per day than they were before the pandemic struck.

As such, it seems that for the vast majority, the coronavirus pandemic has been a time of increased pressure, stress and working. Yet whilst working longer than allotted hours is a sure-fire way to eventually become burned out, the current period has shed a light on the divide between those who are working extremely hard, and those who have used the decrease in observation and monitoring from leaders to, essentially, slack off.

Running yourself ragged fully aware that a colleague is leisurely taking life at their own slow pace is not only frustrating; in a time where businesses are struggling against a harsh economic downturn and a change in customer habits, knowing that all team members are pulling their weight could be the difference between staying in business and going under.
