Do you have these Autumn WFH 'essentials'?

As the summer fades and the weather turns colder, the Government’s recent request that those who have the ability to work from home (WFH) should do so throws into light the need to ensure that those working from home continue to have the tools that they need to work as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Firstly, It’s important to note that remote working isn’t going anywhere, regardless of further changes to Government advice; according to a recent study by Morgan Stanley, only 34% of UK workers who could go back to the office have actually done so, and many businesses have publicly stated that they will extend the option to WFH indefinitely.

In fact, social media giant Facebook recently said that 50% of its jobs will be remote within 10 years; Twitter is letting almost all its global workforce WFH forever and global law firm Slater and Gordon has even given up the lease its London office – instead opting for as much remote working as possible for its staff.

But this does put an emphasis on leaders to think about the impact that remote working has on staff; with the changing seasons, and the longevity of remote working it’s important to note that the things that keep the remote workforce actively happy and engaged with their roles may well have changed and evolved. We are, for better or for worse, taking a step into a new generation of working dynamics that need to be constantly measured and analysed.
