Those working remotely throughout the coronavirus pandemic may have struggled to remain productive for a number of reasons. For one thing, the global pandemic has had a massively detrimental impact on both physical and mental wellbeing. To put it lightly, concentrating on excel documents or customer service forms seems a little less of a priority when it feels like the world is ending.
Secondly, at the start of lockdown very few homes were equipped with the tools needed to work as you would in an office. The alternative was a botch job; stacked books for monitor stands, dining room chairs as office chairs and kitchen counters for workstations. Obviously, this isn’t conducive to high productivity.
But lastly, and maybe most importantly, it’s exhausting. It’s very likely that you’ve been propped up on a kitchen stool staring through the screen of your laptop dreaming of a sunny shore away from all of the madness, or a snow-dressed chalet high on a mountain top. These are, of course, just daydreams, but an unexpected side effect of coronavirus is the ability to make them a reality.
