When the UK Government enforced lockdown measures earlier this year, many organisations moved to homeworking arrangements. Online platforms such as Zoom and Slack quickly moved in to fill the void left by not being able to physically interact with colleagues.
By using these platforms, professionals can conduct their regular meetings, employers and HR professionals can check in on staff as they would in the office and whole companies can even conduct townhall meetings – it seemed like the ultimate solution to the remote working conundrum.
However, there was a balance to be struck in conducting these meetings and, unfortunately for many businesses, the balance was never reached. Many professionals now dread turning on their camera and taking part in meetings – a regular fixture that has only increased as remote working has continued. The issue is so widespread, it’s even been given a name. ‘Zoom fatigue’.
Yet whilst remote meetings do still have to take place, there are ways around this common issue. By following five key steps, employers can ensure that all Zoom calls are positive, helpful and most importantly, not draining for those taking part.
