UK Government launches 'Kickstart' scheme

The UK Government’s Kickstart scheme – which is sought to create thousands of new jobs for young people – opened yesterday.

According to the Government website, employers are now able to sign up to be part of the £2billion scheme.

As part of Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s ‘Plan for Jobs’ – which was announced earlier this year – employers can offer young people aged between 16 and 24-years-old who are claiming Universal Credit a six-month work placement.

Each ‘Kickstart’ job will be fully funded by the Government who will pay 100% of the age-relevant National Minimum Wage, National Insurance and pension contributions for 25 hours a week.
