The pandemic has caused challenges for many working parents who have been tasked with looking after children, home schooling and juggling work simultaneously.
This is supported by research from the University of Kent and the University of Birmingham – as was reported by Workplaceinsight – which suggested that the surge in the number of staff working remotely during the pandemic has posed a wealth of challenges for working parents in particular.
Yet, with schools in England primed to reopen this week – and the Mirror reporting that most local councils will begin the new term on September 1 or 2, 2020 – it is possible that this could unearth additional challenges for working parents when things such as school runs and childcare arrangements come into play.
Vicki Field, an independent HR practitioner, told HR Grapevine that, like most parents, she is “breathing a sigh of relief” that schools are reopening this month.
