Those who have spent time either living in the nation’s capital or commuting in to their day job in one of the city’s vast business districts will be aware of just how pricey London can be.
From commuting on packed trains, boutique lunchtime eateries, expensive post-work drinks or even simply the price of parking a car in one of the rare free spaces around the city, the cost of working in London soon adds up.
In fact, according to the latest data from Totaljobs, those for whom remote working is now a more permanent arrangement, the total cost recouped by not working in the office over the course of a career totals a stonking £14,309. A sobering consideration for HR leaders looking for a full return to the office from staff.

The research, which polled a vast range of professionals in the city, found that remote working has been an unprecedented financial aid; 27% of respondents have been able to pay back debt, or put money down on their mortgage using funds saved by missing their commute and lunchtime habits.
