Inequality when it comes to gender within a business has long-been documented, with studies and research papers indicating that women are still facing discrimination and huge levels of inequality in the workplace.
So much so that Herbalife Nutrition’s second annual Global Entrepreneurship survey revealed that more women than ever now wish to start their own business in order to escape the inequality they have faced in the workplace.
62% of respondents revealed that they would be eager to begin their own business due to the unfair treatment they had experienced in previous roles, while 80% stated it was to become a role model for younger women.
One top female executive has now spoken out about her time at the American image sharing and social media service, Pinterest. The firm’s former Chief Operating Officer (COO) Françoise Brougher has lifted the lid on the firm’s alleged toxic culture, and has accused the company for firing her for speaking out about the ‘rampant discrimination, hostile work environment, and misogyny' in the business.
