The coronavirus pandemic has caused a wealth of uncertainty for employers and employees.

Businesses will likely be concerned about how they can sustain and survive this turbulent time while employees will undoubtedly be worried about job security and pay going forwards.

As a lifeline to businesses and staff members, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, unveiled the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) which was intended to prevent large-scale lay-offs and to combat a downturn in work that arose due to strict lockdown measures.

Employees placed on the furlough scheme can receive 80% of their monthly wages, which can be up to £2,500 per month.
