In the throws of the coronavirus pandemic, compassion has been a key talking point in the world of work.
Leaders have been compelled to become far more conscious of the wellbeing of employees who may be severely impacted mentally and physically by the looming threat of the virus, and the ensuing effects that COVID has had on society and work as a whole. As a result, worker wellbeing has spiked to new highs across the UK as conversations around mental health in the workplace have become commonplace.
However, this hasn’t always been the case. In fact, according to statistics researched by BambooHR, 44% of workers who’ve left a job said a boss was the primary reason they chose to quit.
Bosses have, in the past, believed that their position of power gave them the right to discount anything that wasn’t conducive to profit. This, as we know, is the wrong way to operate, and will ultimately lead to a toxic culture within their business.
