Throughout the current global pandemic, HR teams across the UK have had to re-think their strategies in order to protect their staff and help keep businesses afloat.

However, due to the speed in which things changed, for many almost overnight, HR professionals have had to think on their feet to adapt and evolve within a virtual world.

Despite this, recent research has highlighted the need for HR to change further, particularly in a post-pandemic world. According to new research from Personio, half (51%) of UK HR managers stated that the HR function cannot continue as it did prior to the outbreak, indicating that the unprecedented event has forced the people function to continue to evolve.

The research went on to reveal that a third of respondents believe it’s vital for the function to become more strategic, while 33% claimed that it needs to be more agile and flexible to stay ahead in the future. While a large number of respondents have noted that the function needs to develop, Lisa Rickman-Orpen, HR Director at retirement village provider Audley Group, believes there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to a business’ HR strategy during this uncertain time.
