Subsequently, employees have grappled with the ‘new norms’ of working from home and communicating with colleagues in a solely virtual sense for the last few months, leaving some feeling isolated and lonely without human company.

To help them get through the working day, some workers may feel inclined to put on some headphones and listen to their favourite tunes. But, does listening to music actually help or hinder workplace productivity?

A 2019 Business Insider article pointed towards the idea that listening to music at work can actually aid workplace productivity.
