The coronavirus pandemic has caused a lot of uncertainty for employers about how they can sustain the business throughout this turbulent time, while employees’ attention focusses on job security and pay.

To help survive the pandemic, some staff members have been placed on the Government’s furlough scheme as a way to prevent large-scale lay-offs and to combat a downturn in work.

Yet, one leader has accused some staff at his firm of 'abusing' the furlough system in a controversial interview with ITV’s This Morning – Heart reported.

Speaking to the show presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Pimlico Plumbers’ boss, Charlie Mullins, said that he plans to let some staff go, particularly if they have asked not to return to work.
