Maintaining a professional persona within the workplace is, of course, essential.
When the barrier between a casual tone and professionalism breaks down, leaders set a poor example to staff, and this could ultimately lead to a lapse in standards within the company. However, this doesn’t mean that you’re expected to be a robot. Blurting out the same practised range of cliched phrases incessantly is extremely off-putting, and will no doubt leave workers feeling unmotivated to listen to what you have to say.
Unfortunately, the same old corporate buzzwords appear again and again in meetings, emails and speeches, infuriating staff who have had to put up with hearing their boss say ‘bandwidth’ for the 30th time that day. But what are these infamous words and how can you ensure that you’re not slipping into a pattern of repetitive usage?
This is why the ‘buzzsaw list’ was created. Compiled and maintained by PR Strategist Hamish Thompson, who has worked with more than 150 businesses worldwide, the list aims to target those words all workers hate, so leaders can at the very least be aware of their effects.
