It’s never easy to be a leader in a time of crisis.

Those in charge of managing people have constant decisions and assessments to make for the welfare of their teams – and all of which must be in line with the Government’s shifting guidance. Decisions that could define the success or failure of your enterprise must be made swiftly, and for the most part, leaders must rely on their own judgement and ‘gut feeling’ to guide their teams through the stormy seas.

It’s a stressful experience – and this alone can cloud the brains of leaders looking to make the right call. “Stress creates cortisol and other chemicals in the body and that radically reduces our ability to think through things. And, so, we fall back on kind of more primitive decision-making strategies, habits, and copying other people as opposed to thinking through how actions lead to consequences,” Lorien Pratt, Co-founder and Chief Scientist of Quantellia, recently told Fast Company.
