Facebook will overhaul remote work pay

Over the past few weeks, several companies have revealed that their employees will have the choice to work from home permanently or return back to the office, following the coronavirus lockdown.

Social media giant Twitter announced last week that staff can work from home ‘forever’ if they choose to. Meanwhile, this week the BBC reported that Mastercard had told its employees that they can continue working from home until they ‘feel comfortable’ going back to the office amid the pandemic.

Similarly, Facebook has revealed that staff would unlikely be returning to the workplace full-time until 2021, plus co-Founder Mark Zuckerberg has shared that he expects half of the firm’s employees to work from home five to 10 years from now. But this life of remote working comes with a catch.

According to Marketwatch, employees who work remotely will no longer be able to enjoy their Silicon Valley salaries and will have to take a pay cut.
