No virtual meeting tool is perfect, as many of the more commonly used platforms simply weren’t designed to be used to the extent at which they currently are under the mandatory remote working policies set out by the Government.
Some issues stem from the capabilities of Zoom, Slack and the like, whilst others are simply user error; ‘Sorry, I was on mute’ has become a regular phrase used by millions across the country.
With many professionals now entering into the fifth consecutive week of having to communicate with colleagues exclusively via digital conferencing, new data compiled by YouGov has revealed that the majority of those remote working are really struggling with the new ‘normal’ of virtual meetings via video call, with younger workers feeling the most pain.
A worrying 52% of professionals admitted that video calling made their lives more difficult and prevented them from being able to communicate effectively, compared to physical ‘face-to-face’ interactions, whereas just 37% stated that a remote working environment was making no difference to their day to day job.
