Whilst the shockingly-swift spread of the COVID-19 virus hits headlines, many business leaders are entering into emergency planning mode to stem the negative effects that the illness will have on their business.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson surprised many by opting not to implement ‘social distancing’ tactics such as closing schools, universities and colleges, instead opting to take the UK into a ‘delay’ stage, which essentially hopes to stave off the main impact of coronavirus until the summer months, therefore easing seasonal pressure on the NHS.

Yet as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise and shoppers around the world begin to panic buy, the results of a new UK survey highlight the increased difficulties business leaders face in preventing the proliferation of illness in the workplace. The key culprit? Well, according to the research, it’s the employees.

In the context of coronavirus, a nationally-representative sample of 2,000 participants were asked whether they would lie about their symptoms.
