Walmart develops emergency leave policy for staff

The outbreak of coronavirus has driven the creation of corporate policies around paid leave and working practices.  

Yet, even at some of the bigger corporations, new policies have only been formalised as new facts, experiences and guidelines emerge, and as staff start to ask new questions.

After an employee tested positive with the virus, Walmart announced yesterday that it is developing an employee leave policy as a result.

Details of the new Covid-19 policy were outlined in a memo sent to employees which was penned by the firm’s Chief People Officer, Donna Morris, Walmart’s US CEO, John Furner and Sam’s Club’s (a membership-only retail club owned by Walmart) CEO, Kath McLay.
