Will Weinstein's conviction change the workplace?

Last week, Harvey Weinstein was convicted of two charges of sexual crimes – one of which directly relates to his place of work – after a long-running saga which shone a light on harassment at work.

The disgraced movie mogul’s first conviction was for forcing oral sex on a former production assistant at his firm, the Weinstein company.

Trial testimony from the ex-employee, Miriam Haley, detailed how Weinstein would blur lines between professional and personal environments in ongoing attempts to coerce Haley into sexual acts she did not want.

It is behavior like this that many have faced at work. When this case was first widely reported on in 2016, backlash against Weinstein’s behaviour kickstarted the global Me Too movement with many feeling empowered to go public with their own harassment stories.
