Bob Geldof: 'Change is not inevitable but desirable'

Bob Geldof is famous world over for being lead singer of The Boomtown Rats and organizing the Live Aid ongoing music-based fundraising organisation, which was most famous for a dual-venue 1985 concert which brought together Paul McCartney, Freddie Mercury, Queen and Elton John – as well an estimated television audience of almost two billion.

Geldof is also famous for his political activism and public speaking. And, at the last European Unleash conference, he was keynote speaker – alongside other more usual HR names such as Josh Bersin and David Green.

Whilst many might not automatically go to Bob Geldof as a leadership or HR sage, he spoke to a room of journalists about subjects that many leaders, both business and otherwise, will today be grappling with.

This included comments on how to articulate a positive purpose for change or transformation, problems with communication in this technology-enabled era and whether the ‘strong man’ version of a leader was good.
