Earlier this week, BP’s new CEO, Bernard Looney, announced plans for the company to cut net carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner in a bid to ‘reinvent’ the firm for a greener future – The BBC reported.

The oil behemoth’s boss said the company needed a fresh new strategy that would eventually come to include more investment into alternative energy.

But, BP isn’t the only firm within the oil industry to be casting a ‘greener’ lens on business as usual. Royal Dutch Shell and Total were among others who have previously announced plans to be more sustainable. Not only does this come with huge benefits for customers and employees but for the business too.
