The first month of the year is often considered to be a struggle for most employees.
Getting back into the swing of things after a few weeks of day-drinking, lie ins and constant eating is a bitter pill to swallow. Not only that, but January hosts the most depressing day of the year. Dubbed ‘Blue Monday’, it is the day that workers are said to feel the most dispirited, gloomy and disengaged. With pay day still appearing to be so far away, workers may feel their mood being dragged down even more.
But it seems there are things that employers can do to stop January becoming a write-off. To find out what HR can do to prevent January blues from taking over, HR Grapevine caught up with Brian Kropp, Chief of HR at global research and advisory firm, Gartner, to find out. He explained that there are a few potential causes: one that centres around the employee and the other around the employer.
