Discover what employees REALLY think of you

It’s one of the oldest workplace debates. What do employees think of their boss?

The concept plays into the inevitable paranoia that all managers have about the people below them; do they like me? Are they talking about me behind my back? It sounds absurdly immature, but the majority of leaders have had to deal with the vulnerability of being at the hands of scrutiny from those they lead. For the most part, what employees think about their boss’ personality is irrelevant, it’s how they feel about them as a boss which has a vast impact on how they work.

It’s no secret that many employees don’t look upon their boss favourably; 70% of employees are disengaged and, according to Gallup, their boss is the number one reason. 89% of workers who quit cited their boss as the main reason, whilst Conference Board research found that 59% of workers wished that their bosses would change jobs. A shocking 65% of workers say they’d take a new boss over a pay rise.

However, when a boss is thought of highly, it can have a massively positive impact on productivity and morale. Ken Blanchard Companies data stated that those who like their boss are 50% more productive and 40% less likely to take time off of work due to illness.
