December is upon us again and once more; all that people can talk about is Christmas. It dominates every area of our lives – from Dean Martin and Mariah Carey taking over the radio, to the annual bombardment of Christmas adverts on the TV and shop windows piled high with tantalising displays of gifts. And yes, it even massively affects the workplace.
Not only are you likely dealing with the holidays in a professional sense, either selling products to consumers, negotiating Christmas deals or even simply pushing hard to get your work finished before the winter break, it’s also likely that your workplace in some way transformed over Christmas with decorations, colleagues talking about their plans and festive parties taking up much of the work day.
In the words of Dean Martin ‘all is merry and bright’ – at least on the surface – but what do business leaders really think of Christmas? The answer may surprise you…
As with all unpopular opinions, many business leaders have taken to anonymous forums to air their grievances over the holidays – with Reddit being the destination of choice for many. And when the judgemental eyes of their employees aren’t upon them, the truth is not as merry as some may assume.
