If you feel like the workday is generally pure chaos and you often feel like you’re simply spinning plates, you’re not alone.
The vast majority of leaders simply have too much to do and not enough time to do it in. The average boss spends over seven hours a week outside of work hours finishing tasks and catching up on their workload, according to MeetTheBoss, whilst Forbes research states that 66% of leaders regularly lose sleep due to work-related stress whilst the World Health Organisation currently deem the stress levels of the average leader ‘unacceptable’.
According to Robert Ostermann, Professor of psychology at FDU’s Teaneck-Hackensack Campus, stress is simply an inevitability for those who are successful n their field. In a 1999 study on the subject, he wrote: “No one reaches peak performance without being stressed, whether an athlete, an office worker or a manager.” But is Ostermann right? Is stress, anxiety and juggling huge workloads simply a part of being good at your job? Most research points to this not necessarily being the case. There are numerous tweaks and hacks you can make to your workday to eliminate stress and increase your productivity – some of which you may have never even considered as a viable solution.
