D&I may once have been solely an HR concern, but it’s time to accept that with the massively positive impact that both have on the overall business outcomes, every leader needs to be making the push to include D&I in their agenda.
So why is it important? Aside from simply taking racial, religious, gender, disability, sexual preference etc bias out of your team, which is in itself enough of a justification of promoting D&I, numerous studies have extolled the benefits of a diverse workforce, and why embracing this is inevitable if you want to be a successful leader.
According to CNN, the Millennial and Generation Z generations are the most diverse in history: only 56% of the 87million Millennials in the country are white, as compared to 72% of the 76million members of the Baby Boomer generation.

This makes a massive difference to the talent that you attract; 67% of jobseekers consider workplace diversity an important factor when considering employment opportunities and more than 50% of current employees want their workplace to do more to increase diversity.
