Earlier this year Stonegate Pub Company, the parent firm behind Slug & Lettuce, Walkabout and The Common Room, announced they were taking an app-first approach to employee engagement.

The app would allow staff to view rotas and online payslips as well as take on extra shifts and swap shifts with colleagues. They would also allow staff to access 30% of their pay at any point during the pay cycle.
