Has HR got better at wellbeing schemes?

Over the last few years, the wellbeing trend has skyrocketed. What was previously viewed as a work perk is now deemed an essential offering for not only attracting top talent but keeping employees happy and healthy in their roles.

For this reason, workplace wellbeing has become increasingly ingrained into HR policy. And rightly so. Particularly as the lines continue to blur between personal and professional life, and employees remain hyper-connected 24/7, wellbeing is something that Feedr’s CEO and Co-Founder, Riya Grover says has gained corporate traction more recently.

“Companies are increasing their budgets as well as their attention towards employee wellbeing and they are starting to think about programmes that people are actually utilising and engaging with. People are much more time strapped and the expectations of work stretche beyond the hours that they are in the office. That’s why employers are entering that new realm by offering things that might previously have sat in the personal sphere but now sit in the professional sphere,” she explained.

Despite its increasing importance, 2019 research from Buck found that just 26% of firms have wellbeing programmes in place, which is far lower than the international average of 42%. So, it seems that there is still work to be done.
