Businesses are changeable beasts. As a worker, expecting job form and function to remain exactly the same as technology shoots forwards in leaps and bounds and the business world moves and develops to keep up with changing needs is simply not sustainable.

Refusing to embrace change is a sure-fire way to render yourself redundant. It is for this reason that learning and development make up a key part of HR’s core functionality.

However, studies have proven that simply allocating whole days to intensive courses or throwing the odd hour in here and there for the sake of ticking a box are extremely ineffective ways of encouraging employees to learn.

In fact, Maturity’s ‘The Transformation Journey 2019’ report found that whilst 95% of bosses feel that educational collaboration is important, only 23% believe that their department is actually competent at doing their jobs right now.
