Key mistakes HR managers make in 1-2-1 meetings

The role of an HR manager is diverse. On a daily basis, ensuring that staff are collectively moving in the same direction to achieve goals in a healthy and productive manner is essential – as is cultivating an environment in which each of your team members feels valued and appreciated.

And while commanding respect requires an air of authority, accepting that no leaders in HR should ever stop learning is just as important.

One area in which HR managers are consistently falling short is in 1-2-1 meetings. So, where are they going wrong?

Delivering key takeaways
Before meeting with a team member, HR must ensure that they create a clear bullet-pointed list of subjects that they'd like to discuss. HR Managers must follow this up with clear and concise actions and a timeline that the employee can follow – if relevant.
