When implementing any form of change, it is important for HR to consider the impact that this change is likely to have on employees.
Therefore, prioritising change management – which involves the process, tools and techniques to manage the people side of change to achieve the required business outcome – is crucial for both the employees and the organisation as a whole.
Rebekah Wallis, Director of People and Corporate Responsibility at Ricoh UK, told HR Grapevine that change management is the ‘red thread’ that runs through every transformation project at a business. She explained: “Without it, there’s little chance that the changes will stick or be properly applied day-to-day.
"Ultimately, change is really about behaviour change and this only comes with cognitive understanding (and acceptance) by individuals of what the change will mean for them.”
