John Lewis' newest Christmas advert holds HR teachings

The official countdown to Christmas can only ever begin after the release of John Lewis’s festive advert. 

Every year, excited TV-viewers wait to see what delights will grace their TV screens in a bid to kick-start the festive period. And, that time has come with the department store behemoth unleashing their 2018 festive advert.

The advert – which tells the story of Sir Elton John’s successful career - reverts back to Christmas as a young boy when he received his first piano. It follows the journey of him growing up but in a reversed function: from present to past. However, luckily for us, there are several key lessons that HR leaders can take away from this year’s heart-warming festive advert. And, that’s more than a covet for his musical talents.
