“If we didn’t change, we wouldn’t have been here,” explains Zac Williams, Co-Founder at GradTouch, a Manchester-based graduate recruitment firm.

The recruiting honcho is on the phone late one afternoon to HR Grapevine - being candid about the bumps and potholes his firm has navigated as they’ve grown up.

He’s noting the different factors of workplace culture that needed tweaking, or overhauling, so GradTouch could veer away from being just another start-up that might’ve gone bust to a firm who recently celebrated gaining £1million in investment.

Speaking exclusively to HR Grapevine, Williams explains that although his company have been making noise in the right places as a result of their bolshie social media and marketing presence – a recent eBook titled ‘How we make our company culture not sh*t’ garnered a fair amount of attention on LinkedIn – and a changed approach to working hours – “We push the flexible approach as far as it can go,” he says – hiring the right people, whilst not headline-making as such, is one of the important factors that has underpinned their recent meteoric rise.
