A year on from the announcement of her MBE award, Lynne Atkin, HR Director and Head of Employee Relations at Barclays, tells HR Grapevine how this award has given the department more confidence, why HR needs to be a disruptor and how Barclays are preparing for the future…

How has this award given your HR department more confidence?

The reaction from the HR team has been incredible and has bolstered the team. As a function, we strive to ensure that we run a progressive and commercial HR plan that really drives high performance amongst our colleagues and also makes a material difference to them both at home and at work.

My team take great pride in the work that we do and they all were delighted that it has been recognised in such a public way. Receiving the MBE was a real honour. It was completely unexpected and even though it’s a year on, I still feel very proud that the work the Barclays HR team has been recognised in such a way.
