John Vickerman, HR Director, UK & Ireland, Fujitsu, speaks to HR Grapevine about why companies need to help foster a public that is as confident about their technology skills as businesses are about their workforce...

With the majority of the public agreeing that technology can positively impact the development of new skills, digital technology is critical for businesses’ future success.

However, despite nearly two thirds (63%) of business leaders citing they are confident their employees have the right skills to make the most of new technologies, at present, only a third of the UK public feel fully prepared for technological change with the same number believing they have the necessary skills to take advantage of new technology.

As we fast progress towards a ‘digital-first’ nation we need to ensure we are investing at the very beginning and throughout employees’ entire digital journey and developing the right skills to support the future digital economy.
