Go to - Bloomsbury Tea Lover's Event
If you’re "mad for a brew", head down to London Bloomsbury Gallery’s pop-up tea event. The gallery will be showcasing different tea flavours, styles and traditions from all over the world - from English Afternoon tea, to Chinese, Japanese and Indian tea. There will also be tea ceremonies and meditation workshops, which is advocated by spiritual teachers, such as Osho (an Indian Guru) and Thich Nhat Hanh (a Buddhist monk) who believe drinking tea slowly can bring harmony and peace.
Meditation is a practice often advised to professionals who find it difficult to switch off and relax. A recent study, published in the journal Psychiatry Research found that an eight-week course of mindfulness was found to lower levels of stress hormones which can lead to high blood pressure.
The study's lead author, Dr Elizabeth Hoge of Massachusetts General Hospital, comments, as reported in The Daily Mail: “This is not just a fad, it has been around for thousands of years in Buddhist countries, and we have found it helps people in a very practical sense. We think it works because it helps people create a little bit of distance between their thoughts and themselves, seeing that their worries will pass.”
