The film starring Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, and Dev Patel – who received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for ‘Lion’ - is an adaptation of the story of Saroo Brierley.  After catching a train and ending up miles away from his family, five-year-old Brierley ends up lost in Kolkata.  He gets adopted by an Australian couple, and 25 years later, retraces his Indian family using Google Earth.

According to The Economic Times Patel said in a statement: “'Lion' reaffirms the message that love is not dictated by the colour of your skin, not by race, gender, sexuality, social status or origin. It is a message I am proud to be spreading during these uncertain times."
