When it comes to the job interview, salary can be a difficult and awkward conversation to breach.
Whilst no one wants to take a pay cut when moving to a new job, negotiating worth can be daunting – and if a candidates expectations are too high, it could result in them losing an offer.
However, should prospective employers ask about earnings in candidate’s previous roles?
A law in Massachusetts forbids hiring managers from asking jobseekers their current salary prior to offering them a position. They will have to declare the wage they’re offering the candidate upfront, based on what the applicant is worth rather than what they’re earning.
