Society is changing: the typical model of parenting – one working, the other parenting – is disintegrating in favour of a correlated caring model. But is HR keeping up?
A study earlier this month by Modern Families found that a fifth of fathers believed their employer expected no disruption to work when it came to childcare, while 44% admitted lying to their employer about family-related responsibilities that ‘get in the way’ of work.
48% said they would take a pay cut to achieve a better work-life balance.
In this vein, a recent parliamentary inquiry by the Commons Women and Equalities Committee has considered this issue of men getting a fair deal in the workplace regarding childcare.
