BBC Plymouth has told staff to borrow workplace Christmas decorations, such as a battery powered Christmas tree or a star, from a ‘festive loan’ area – and then return them to cut costs – Daily Mail Online reports.
The memo, titled ‘Festivity on loan’ and sent by the Assistant News Editor, reads: “Hi all, it was proving too expensive to decorate the entire newsroom, so instead I have set up a ‘festive loan’ area.
“If you feel you would like to brighten up your desk with some Christmas decoration please help yourself to a battery powered tree or rattan LED star.
“Remember to return them at the end of the day for someone else to enjoy - and turn them off [at] night to avoid disappointment nearer the big day itself.”
