Following his client’s dismissal from Barclays, a senior banker’s lawyer has claimed that his client was fired as a “direct response” to his comments during a criminal investigation.
Banker Richard Boath was interviewed by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) during an investigation into Barclay’s fundraising from Gulf investors, during the financial crisis.
Lawyer Jonathan Cohen told an employment tribunal that the bank fired his client after the SFO handed over transcripts of their interviews – LSE.com reports.
Boath previously held the prestigious title of Co-Head of Global Finance EMEA.
