The latest science-fiction film by Denis Villeneuve, which sees an alien invasion land on Earth, has been described as “dazzling” and will “leave you speechless”, according to The Telegraph. The plot sees Amy Adams play an expert linguist hired by the US military to communicate with the aliens and find out why they have come to our planet.

Onboarding a new starter and teaching them the unique language and culture of a workplace is often a challenge. Although we cannot reach out to aliens before they welcome themselves to our planet, in the workplace, the onboarding process should start the day the role is accepted, according to Andy Sumner, Managing Director UK and Ireland at Monster.

He explains: “One thing we do is to get people to come in and get a personal introduction with their team and make it friendly, warm, and welcoming. Make sure that they are familiar with some of the cultural things, like dress code. I think it is also important to make it really personal.”
